Remember Remember the Fifth of November….
Tuesday, November 6th, 2007So, it’s day two in the new space and things are really coming
together. Yesterday was an interesting day as things weren’t quite as ready as we had hoped. As many of you out there well know, this is often the case with moving. Our electricity (which is now working splendidly) was not initially up and kind of slowed down the forward momentum of the day. There was a moment before we were sure about the situation on electrical that a roast was started and blew the breaker. As a result, the guys out in the warehouse had to hand turn the drum by pulling on a chain with all their might. Needless to say, they worked around it until everything was worked out and then were free to start roasting. Everything has been smooth sailing ever since
All in all, it is a beautiful space for us. We were outgrowing our old place to the point that every room had at least two purpose. The training room was also merchandise storage. The cupping room was also the kitchen. Every time we got a new product out in the warehouse they would have to find a place to squeeze it in. Now we have no multi-purpose spaces. There is a room for cupping, a training room, a storage room for merchandise, as well as a storage room for training supplies. There’s a kitchen and more warehouse space than we could have ever dreamed of.

The training room is also waiting on some electrical work to get done and then I will be able pull fabulous shots on my Aurelia. I have found that this high end model, put out by Nuova Simonelli, is quite the work horse and delivers extraordinary shots.
I was raised on LaMarzoccos as a barista, and had a hard time finding a machine that could hold a candle to it, but the Aurelia has turned my head a bit. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the LaMarzocco….your first love always has a special place in your heart, but it’s not the only great machine out there. If you have the opportunity to try one out, I suggest that you give it a fair shot. It can perform.
Anyway, enough about my espresso fascinations. Here’s one final picture of the warehouse. In order to fully appreciate the scope of this space I labeled the roaster as a frame of reference. Look to the right there
Enjoy, and we will keep you posted as things come more and more together. Pictures of the training room to come!
